Durag Care & Maintenance Guide

At Anonymous Plugs, our durags are made with high quality, delicate materials, and careful craftmanship. To keep your durag looking its best, follow these care instructions to protect the fabric and design for long term use.

1. General Washing and Drying Instructions

- Hand Wash Only: Always hand wash your durag in cold water to avoid damage to the fabric. This is especially important for delicate materials.

- Mild Detergent: Use a gentle detergent that’s safe for delicate items. Avoid harsh chemicals, bleach, or fabric softeners.

- Air Drying: After washing, lay the durag flat to air dry, or hang it in a shaded area. Do not wring or twist the fabric, as this can lead to stretching and loss of shape.

- Avoid Machine Washing/Drying: Machine washing and drying can weaken the fabric or damage any delicate features. Stick to hand washing and air drying to maintain the quality and appearance of your durag.

2. Special Drying and Ironing Instructions:

- Air Dry Only for Special Fabrics: Certain fabrics, especially those with a unique texture or finish, should never be machine dried. Air drying is essential to maintain the fabric’s integrity.

- No Direct Sunlight: When air drying, keep the durag out of direct sunlight, as prolonged exposure can fade the colors and weaken the material.

- Low Heat or No Ironing: Most durags, particularly those made from special materials, should not be ironed. If ironing is necessary, use the lowest heat setting and place a protective cloth between the iron and the fabric.

- Steam Wrinkles Instead: For special fabrics, consider using a steamer to gently remove wrinkles. Hold the steamer at a distance to avoid direct heat damage.

3. Special Care for Printed Durags

- Washing:when washing a printed durag please be extreamly delicate. Always turn printed durags inside out before hand washing. This helps protect the design from friction during the washing process.

- Dye Test: Before washing a printed durag for the first time, perform a small dye test. Wet a hidden section of the fabric to see if the dye runs. This will help avoid dye bleeding onto lighter areas or prints.

- Drying: Printed durags should always be air dried flat, and out of direct sunlight. Do not use a dryer, as heat can cause the print to peel, crack, or fade.

- Ironing: Never iron directly over printed areas. If ironing is needed, turn the durag inside out or use a cloth to shield the print. Avoid high heat, as this can damage the design.
